Abstract
Nickel based superalloy Inconel 718 is having application in aerospace, automotive and nuclear industry.
Super alloy is difficult to process due to its superior properties like high strain hardening tendency, toolwork piece material affinity and high strength at elevated temperature. In this work, the effects of
geometry parameters (approach angle and tool nose radius), cutting conditions (cutting speed and feed
rate) on cutting force and cutting temperature were investigated during turning of Inconel 718 with TiAlNcoated and uncoated carbide insert under dry condition. The experimental results were analyzed using
center composite design response surface methodology (RSM). Statistical analysis of variance and
prediction of the mathematical models were proposed. The outcomes indicate that the performance of
coated carbide tools better in all conditions. The optimum cutting conditions are presented to achieve the
desired results. .
